■■RYTON driver Ewan Tindall (pictured) secured second place in his class and 42nd overall out of 135 starters in round six of the BTRDA Rally Championship and Fiesta ST Trophy. The 17-year-old contests the final round of the championship the Trackrod Rally Yorkshire - this weekend.
■■TYNE and Wear Under-18s lost 8-7 to Lancashire in their first match in the 2018/2019 Northern Youth Darts Organisation’s County Championship - despite wins for Drew Mole, Ryan Branley, Andrew Dodds, Tasha Kennedy, Peter Allen, Arran Keogh and Jack Male.
■■SPORT Newcastle will be recognising the Unsung Heroes of Sport at their biennial awards evening at Kingston Park on Tuesday, November 27.
Among the winners they are looking to find is a very special person who has overcome adversity while still remaining committed to a volunteering role.
They will be presented with the prestigious Award for Endeavour donated by NUFC Foundation.
The deadline for nominations for this award, along with all the other awards, is Monday, October 1.

■■A NEW state-of-the-art sports facility has been launched at Sunderland College.
Martin Nugent Elite Performance is based at the college’s Bede Campus on Durham Road, alongside its multimillion pound Sports Academy.
The facility provides elite strength and conditioning training with bespoke equipment and the latest screening technology.
