Sketch out your plans for 2018’s Big Draw

Month of events to inspire budding artists

-

PENS and pencils at the ready, the annual Big Draw Festival is back. Running throughout October, the event celebrates the importance of drawing and play.

Kate Mason, director of The Big Draw says there will be hundreds of activities taking place, adding: “We encourage people of every age, background and artistic ability to join us.”

The Festival launches in Liverpool at The Walker

Art Gallery on September 29 with a host of drawing activities, kicking off a creative fiesta in which people can register to hold their own event, or join one of the many on offer on The Big Draw website.

Activities include making experimental drawing tools, designing the best playground ever, drawing games, and loads more. The Big Draw began as a one-day celebration of drawing in October 2000 in the UK, and has now spread to some 25 countries around the world – encouraging more than four million people back to the drawing board.

It has notched up two world records – one for the longest drawing in the world (1km) and the other for the greatest number of people drawing simultaneously (more than 7,000).

The Big Draw charity manages research projects, campaigns and educational conferences on visual literacy and supports professional and emerging artists.
