Sorry, Moose but you are just Talk-ing utter rubbish

COMMENTS ON THE TOON ARE TOTALLY OUT OF ORDER

WE HAVE had a classic case of why the Moose should never open his mouth before he engages his brain this week.

Ian Abrahams, which is the Moose’s actual name, is a colleague of mine at TalkSport and he aired rather ignorant comments about Newcastle United live on air on Monday afternoon.

While talking with ex-Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy, the pair claimed there is “nothing to do” on Tyneside other than to go to the Newcastle game on a Saturday - and that is why 52,000 fans turn up every fortnight.

Look, we all know that is just complete rubbish.

Anyone who lives in the North East, has played for Newcastle or has any association with the club knows that is just not true.

What I would say is the Moose and Murphy and entitled to their opinions - even if we rightly disagree with them.

One of the reasons I like working for TalkSport is everyone can voice their varied views, whatever they may be - and then fans are also given the opportunity to challenge them once they phone in.

If Newcastle fans are so offended by Moose’s comments, what they need to do is ring up the station and put their point across.

Some people may say things on the radio station because they are wind-up merchants but others hold what are admittedly rather bizarre, honestly-held opinions - through ignorance more than anything else.

I have played for Newcastle and lived in the area.

I know what a massive football club it is and what a magnificent region the North East is too.

Yet you have to remember some people live in a London bubble.

They have a nosebleed when they go past Watford Gap - and they are oblivious to how brilliant Tyneside is as a place and how passionate and history-rich a club Newcastle is.

Unfortunately not everyone going to share that opinion.

You can challenge their views and try to correct them but I don’t think fans should necessarily get as irate about it as they have been.

Newcastle fans should be content in the knowledge they recognise the size and importance of the football club and also the diversity and excellence of the region. Those who don’t is
