Halloween

-

IT sold out on numerous occasions last year and the ante has been upped as Terror in the Tunnel gets set to send a shiver down Newcastle’s spine again this Halloween.

Taking place in Ouseburn’s famous Victoria Tunnel, the terrifying trails welcomed hundreds of brave souls underground last October and the events will soon return scarier than before.

The back story to Terror in the Tunnel on the Ouseburn Trust website goes like this “In 2017 we held our first Halloween event in the historic Victoria Tunnel; situated in the cradle of the industrial revolution in Newcastle – the Ouseburn Valley. “A Tunnel built as a 2.2 mile waggonway to transport coal to the river. A place never built for man nor beast. After bankruptcy and a fatal accident in the tunnel it was left deserted for 79 long years, then in 1939-1945 used and voted as the ‘Worst air raid shelter of World War 2.’

“A place where 9,000 souls sheltered 85ft underground during long air raids, with no clue of to the destruction unfolding above ground. 232 souls ventured into almost complete darkness that night in 2017, unaware of the terrifying events that were about to unfold...

“Some refused to go in. Some came running back out. One worried about her fleek eyebrows being scared off her face. Join us (forever) in 2018. Walk through the Terror in the Tunnel in 45-60 minutes (or as long as you can stand!”

The price to enter is a very apt £6.66.

The Terror in the Tunnel trails will take place on Saturday, October 27 at: 6.30pm, 7pm, 7.30pm, 8pm, 8.30pm, 9pm, 9.30pm and 10pm.
