Benfield look to build on a vital victory

-

NEWCASTLE Benfield manager Mark Convery has admitted the club “needed” their win over Bishop Auckland.

Jake Orrell nabbed the crucial goal in the 2-1 home victory against the Two-Blues and handed his side their first win since the opening weekend of the season.

That set them up for tomorrow’s home game against Ashington and Convery is hopeful his side can build on its midweek success.

He said: “We needed that win against Bishops.

“We are looking forward to the game against Ashington and we have to try and build on a decent team performance against Bishop Auckland.

“We are expecting a tough game against a well-organised Ashington side which has also picked up recently.”

Convery has a full squad available for the game.

Colliers’ boss Steve Bowey has also had good news on the injuryfront as Conor Grant, Lee McAndrew, Shaun Vipond and Matthew Wade all return to his squad.

Hebburn Town manager Scott Oliver will take a late check on the fitness of captain Louis Storey and midfielder Lee Kerr ahead of their visit to West Auckland Town.

Two in-form sides meet at the UTS Stadium as Dunston entertain Consett.

The hosts are without Michael Hall and Michael Pearson but otherwise have a full squad available.

North Shields could hand a debut to left-back Chris McDonald in their home game against Ryhope after the former Berwick Rangers defender joined the Robins from Morpeth Town on Thursday.

Whitley Bay striker Jack Foalle returns to their squad for the home game against Bishop Auckland.

The Seahorses top scorer missed last weekend’s FA Cup exit to Altrincham but is available for the Two-Blues’ visit to Hillheads.

Mark Doninger could make his Whickham debut in their game at Penrith but Colin Larkin has been ruled out of Sunderland RCA’s home game against Shildon.

In Division Two, Heaton Stannington have a full squad available as they look to continue their recent upturn in form when they visit Esh Winning.

The Division’s top two meet at Moor Park as Chester-le-Street Town host Thornaby.
