Players need to step up, says Solano

-

NOBBY Solano has delivered his verdict for Newcastle United’s clash with Leicester City.

The Toon legend feels the emphasis is on the players to serve up a performance after plenty of emphasis on the manager and the club owner in recent weeks.

Looking ahead to the game, Solano said: “This one will be down to who is the most desperate for a win if you ask me.

“Looking at the results so far that should be Newcastle!

“It cannot just be about what happens off the field and at some stage the players need to step up.

“This team have been together for a long time now so they should know each other well enough and be capable of getting a win here.

“Losing Rondon is a big blow, of course, but Joselu has two goals to his name now and if the service is good he has shown he knows where the net is.

“I would like to judge Newcastle properly after 12 games.

“They could do with a win here first before the trip to Man United but the Premier League will be a truer picture after a dozen matches.

“Newcastle will not find it easy against a club which spent £104million in the summer but Rafa Benitez will have the players feeling calm after a tough start. “I have good memories of playing for both clubs after a good stint under Nigel Pearson at Leicester and my glory days in the Toon. “However, I desperately want to see Newcastle win this one.”
