FROM West End leads to doggy posers and stunt doubles, there is a wealth of jobs up for grabs in showbusiness – but each comes with a tough audition process.

This entertaining series goes behind the scenes of the casting world, following various panels as they search to fill all sorts of roles.

With cameras fixed in the audition room, each week sees three jobs on offer, with candidates trooping in hoping to nab that dream job. And it’s a pretty varied start.

The jobs are a dog model, a TV shopping presenter and the role of King Henry VIII at Hampton Court Palace.

Several Henrys arrive for casting, dressed in full royal regalia, from the crown to the tights. But they must not only look the part, they must have the historical knowledge to back it up.

Meanwhile, the waiting room is filled with barking and yapping as a pack of pooches compete for a contract worth £12,000 and the chance to be the cover star of two leading dogs magazines.

Watch out for Queenie Woof Woof who arrives in a pink pram with several outfits, a sausage dog who can balance an amazing array of objects on his head, and a Mexican hairless dog often mistaken for a hyena.

And shopping channel Ideal World are on the hunt for a new fitness presenter, someone who is engaged and unflappable. But it’s a big ask.

This is an amusing insight, with lots of highs and lows, but nowhere near the drama of the big talent show auditions we’re used to seeing.
