POEM OF THE DAY

The Shetlands

-

been some technical misselling but that does not mean that everyone who ever had such a policy should now be able to reclaim the money.

From my own experience whenever I took out a loan I was offered PPI and if I felt it wise to have it, I did so.

As an example if you buy tickets for events at Sage Gateshead you are offered protection for the cost of the tickets should you become ill and unable to attend.

You can’t claim the money back if you were able to attend. BRIAN TAYLOR, North Shields Over a hundred a miles out in the cruel North Sea

The Shetlands is not an ideal place to work or live believe me In winters it gets very windy and rains almost every day And the rain is horizontal by the way

The whole place is covered in bogs and peat

Locals burn it to generate their heat

Trees on the Shetlands you will not see

Because of the peat they are an absentee

Before the Sullom Voe oil terminal arrived

The Shetlanders somewhat struggled to survive

The locals now like a little drink or two

Before Sullom Voe drink was never an issue

In the depth of winter daylight is short

In the height of summer darkness is practically nought The summer days can be beautiful and long

Still I was very happy to move on
