Likeness is nothing more than skin deep

SHEARER TATTOO IS ROUNDLY MOCKED ON SOCIAL MEDIA

IT could be Alan Shearer...but then again, it could be Sloth from ‘The Goonies.’

This tattoo of the Newcastle United legend on an unknown fan’s back has gone viral on social media - and for all the wrong reasons, after all, just look at it.

Fans showed no mercy, drawing up a list of ruthless comparisons including one ‘80s legend.

Others said it looked another striker- and Big Al’s former number two in the Toon dugout. Or a former warlord...

But to be fair, not everyone thought it was that bad.

One even said the likeness was “spot on”.

However most agreed it looked absolutely nothing like the England legend.

Some said it looked more like Les Denis - or Harry Kane - or even Jim Robinson from Neighbours?

You remember him, don’t you? And one fan tweeted quite an obvious point.

“Why would you have Shearer in a suit, and not in his Toon shirt?!,” wrote one.

Fair point.

But to make matters worse, Match of the Day even started hammering their pundit.

But what did Shearer himself make of it?

Well, he seemed to think the likeness was uncanny.

But while he saw the funny side to the tattoo, Shearer hasn’t found Mike Ashley’s offer of a ‘free holiday’ to Newcastle’s squad if they dodge relegation a laughing matter.

In his Sun column this week, he branded it an “insult”.

“If I was a player at that team dinner on Wednesday and he offered me that, I would have told him to shove it where the sun doesn’t shine.

“I would have said, ‘Instead of spending money on a holiday spend it on the football club and back the manager!’

“As a player, that might give me hope and extra motivation that we’re all in the fight together.

“These players are on from between £30,000 and £100,000-a-week, they are multimillionaires.

“Does he not think they can afford any holiday they want?”
