Burra hit back in cup decider

-

BURRADON and New Fordley retained the David Crichton Memorial Cup with a 3-1 victory over Bedlington Social Club at Ashington FC.

It was a very close match in the the early stages with both sides trying to gain a foothold.

Bedlington took the lead on 19 minutes when Joe Bolam scored.

Burradon came back strongly but their finishing let them down as they failed to convert numerous scoring chances in the first half.

However, after the break they dominated the midfield and began to put pressure on the Bedlington defence.

Burradon finally drew level through a penalty converted by Mathew Tumilty.

They then took the lead when the Bedlington goalkeeper spilled a long-range shot and Jack Foalle nipped in to score.

A third came soon afterwards, Liam Hudson converting after a quick break.

Bedlington had chances to get back into the game but the Burradon goalkeeper kept them out with two fine saves.
