■■CONSETT Top Club breezed into the first round of the Durham FA Sunday Cup as they put nine past without reply Hetton Lyons.

The game was abandoned after 81 minutes but the result is expected to stand.

Division Two’s East Stanley WMC will join them in the draw as their opponents Seaton Carew Under-19 conceded the tie.

Oxhill Central were eliminated from the competitio­n, though, as they went down 4-2 at Chesterle-Street Garden Farm.

■■BLACKHALL Mill and Chopwell picked up three points in the north group of the new Durham County Champions League as finishes from David Wansell, Michael Calvert and Derek Waters saw them defeat Gateshead Belle Vue 3-2.
