BLUE PETER 60TH ANNIVERSARY

CBBC, 5pm

PREPARE to either feel extremely old or to have absolutely no idea what’s going on. This is a live ‘Big Birthday’ extravaganza to mark 60 years of Blue Peter – the longest-running children’s television show in the world.

Yes, we’ve had six decades of famous Tracy Island ‘makes’, marvellous feats of sticky back plastic and milk bottle tops, 25 pets, 37 presenters and God knows how many badges.

The flagship show still inspires kids to send in more than 100,000 letters and pictures every year.

This special episode welcomes back past presenters including Valerie Singleton, Peter Purves and Anthea Turner, to celebrate with makes, games and a look back on classic moments.

There are also presenter challenges such as Lindsey Russell attempting to fly a hot air balloon in the Arctic Circle, while life-long fan Ed Sheeran is in for a surprise when he gets a Gold Blue Peter badge.

A brilliant, nostalgic celebration of a British institution.

CELEBRITY HUNTED

Channel 4, 9.15pm

EIGHT celebrities are on the run for charity, and it makes for some unusual and amusing sightings.

These people can barely walk down the road without someone asking them for a selfie, so how are they going to evade capture for 14 days?

Taking part in this tongue in cheek, escape challenge for Stand Up To Cancer are duos Dom Joly and Vicky Pattison, Olympian Louis Smith and Strictly Come Dancing pro AJ Pritchard, Love Island’s Chris Hughes and Kem Cetinay, and Sky News anchor Kay Burley and MP and former army commando Johnny Mercer.

Kem gives it the trash talk: “Because we don’t have a clue what we’re doing, they’re not going to have a clue what we’re doing.” Good point.

He and Chris are the first to feel the heat when a text message exposes their hideout, and Johnny needs to take part in the crucial Brexit vote.

Let the game of cat-and-mouse begin.
