A FAMILY ‘LEFT IN PIECES’
Shock as young dad stabbed to death
A family have spoken of their heartbreak after a 28-year-old Gateshead dad was stabbed to death in the West Midlands.
Christopher Harm was described as a “loving son, dad and brother” by his loved ones.
Locals say his death has shattered the community.
A murder investigation is under way after Mr Harm died in the early hours of Saturday.
Three men have been arrested by police and one will appear in court this morning.
Describing their pain, Christopher’s family paid tribute to “a loving son, dad and brother gone so tragically and a family left in pieces forever”. Loved ones are now rallying around to aid the Sunniside family’s funeral costs.
The initial £2,000 target was smashed in a matter of hours. West Midlands Police say Mr Harm was stabbed in Dudley at 1am on Saturday.
The fatal incident occurred in Engine Lane, Brierley Hill, yards from the large Merry Hill shopping centre.
All three suspects were arrested on suspicion of murder. Two were released with no further action.
Glen Elvin, 25, of no fixed address, will appear at Dudley Magistrates’ Court this morning.
Detective Inspector Harry Harrison, from Force CID, said: “We continue to try and establish the circumstances around the sad death of this man.
“We still need anyone who has any information about what happened to come forward and talk to us.
“Christopher’s family are distraught. This is a very difficult time for them, we need to help them understand what happened and bring those responsible to justice.
“This is such a tragic waste of a life.
“Our thoughts continue to remain with Christopher’s family who have been kept fully updated by this development.”
Shocked friends took to social media yesterday to pay tribute to Mr Harm.
On the GoFundMe page, one wrote he was “one in a million”.
On Facebook, another said he had a “good heart” and would be a huge loss to the area.
And another friend, who asked not to be named, told The Chronicle: “It is just an unbelievable shock.
“He was such a nice, pleasant lad, and nice to speak to - he always had time to speak to others.”
