Leam’s win bid given a Halpin hand

LEAM Lane WMC maintained their unbeaten start to the Premiershi­p season with a 3-2 win over second-placed Thomas Wilson.

Connor Halpin opened the scoring for Leam, the Wilson levelling through Mark Burns before half-time.

Neil Davison tucked away a penalty for Wilson, then Carl Taylor equalised from the spot.

With time running out, Halpin scored again to ensure the points went to Leam Lane.

Blue Star were 5-3 victors over Birtley The Hanlon thanks to two goals each from Chris Laws and James Bowman.

Evan Peareth also registered for Blue Star, two strikes from Adam Berry and one from Chris Horn Birtley’s reply.

Whickham Coachman were 5-2 winners at Highwayman, finishes from Christophe­r Keenan, Gregor Rowe, Ryan Davenport and Stephen Hall (2) all counting for The Coachies.

Simon Heath and James Tumilty pulled two late consolatio­n goals back for Highwayman - but they were not enough.

Sheriff Hill Three Tuns picked up their first points of the season with a 6-3 success over Crawcrook Albion.

Bri Allen was the hat-trick hero for the Tuns, David Hawkins chipping in with a brace and Michael Grugan with one.

Albion’s efforts came courtesy of a brace from Lewis Gardner and one from Thomas Lippeat.

A1 Allerdene remain top of Division One thanks to a close 2-1 result over Felling CC.

Alex Brown opened the scoring for Felling but Allerdene hit back before half-time with a fine solo effort from Joe Turnbull.

Louis Tiplady grabbed the winner for Allerdene midway through the second half.

Saltwell kept up their 100% record with their fifth straight victory, triumphing 6-1 against Holmeside.

Zadjo Kendjo and Jordan Stevens both hit doubles, the others from Martin Baker and Luke Steel. Niall Vitty registered for Holmeside.

Whickham Bay Horse were the day’s top scorers, cantering to a 13-1 at Ryton and Crawcrook.

Lewis McKie (4), Tom Henderson (2), Ben Jones (2), Kane Swaddle (2), Matty Neve, Ryan Cowan and Marc Udale netted for the Horse.
