BLACK PANTHER VS DEADPOOL #1

THEY’VE both had movies out this year, and both enjoyed being in the spotlight. Now these superheroes are going head-to-head as the Merc with a Mouth decides to wander into Wakanda in search of Vibranium.

But his hunt is not entirely selfish, as a much-loved Marvel figure’s life could be on the line if he fails to obtain a fragment of mythical metal. Look out for a beautiful New York Comic Con variant cover by Ryan Benjamin.

Written by Daniel Kibblesmith, with gorgeous artwork by Ricardo Lopez Ortiz, Black Panther Vs Deadpool #1 is out now, priced £4.99.

NO LAUGHING MATTER

THERE’S another fan favourite about to be immortalised in POP! vinyl.

The Batman Who Laughs is being added to Funko’s DC Super Heroes line, being issued as a Previews Exclusive Pop.

The Batman Who Laughs is a supervillain in the DC Comics universe – a “Jokerized” version of Batman who was born from the Dark Multiverse.

Previews Exclusive Pops, or PXs, are released first through comic book shops, rather than the bigger retailers.

The pop is expected in shops next March.

A HOME FOR PINOCCHIO

IT WOULD seem Guillermo del Toro, right, is about to break his Pinocchio project out of development hell.

The Oscar-winning director has long wanted to make an animated musical version of Italian writer Carlo Collodi’s Pinocchio, but no one seemed interested – until now. It would seem that streaming giant Netflix has stepped into the breach and del Toro, in collaboration with the Jim Henson company, will begin work soon on the film, which will be a stop-motion musical.

Announcing work on the film, del Toro said: “No art form has influenced my life and my work more than animation and no single character in history has had as deep of a personal connection to me as Pinocchio.”
