Gruesome goings on in garden

-

A labyrinth with macabre sights lurking around its corners launched at The Alnwick Garden in Northumberland on Saturday.

And while the garden is usually a please-all option for a family trip out, this time it is advising some parental guidance, for some of the gruesome new additions at least.

The attraction has set up The Spook Zone in its labyrinth where scary corpses in coffins lie in wait to startle visitors so children will have to be accompanied by an adult.

There is also The Spooky Trail, which promises to be another Halloween frightener where people are told they will find themselves stumbling across tombs and skeletons.

The creepy new programme will be running right up until Halloween itself, October 31, and it will also include a Dead of Night event that is not considered suitable for under-12s. This will see the garden transformed, once darkness falls, into a ‘zombie-infested realm’ between 6.30pm and 8.30pm.

The cost for this will be £6, while the other day-time activities will be free with the admission cost to the venue. Other highlights in the run-up to Halloween will be craft activities including a chance to make magical wands, stink bags and potions and there will be a fancy dress contest, with three age group entries, for a chance to win a family entrance ticket or family skating pass over Christmas.
