Twizell late show keeps Port on top

STOCKTON Churches Portrack emerged from their top-of-thetable clash with Hillsong Newcastle wit a 1-0 victory.

Lee Twizell’s 89th-minute strike maintained the Teesssider­s’ 100% record this season but ended Hillsong’s own unbeaten run.

Portrack also opened up a fivepoint gap at the top.

North Shields Community Christians took just nine minutes to go ahead against Conset St Patrick’s as a shot hit the top corner from Adrian Wood.

A one-two between Scott Purcell and Mitchell Renny saw Purcell slot the ball home from inside the box on 16 minutes.

Three minutes later Saint Patrick’s got themselves back in the game when Colin Wheatly scored from close range.

A minute later Purcell and Renny were at it again as Purcell returned the compliment to Renny net this time to give their side a 3-1 half-time advantage.

The only goal in the second half came from Michael Hogg for Consett on 70 minutes.

Christians saw out the remaining 20 minutes to prevail 3-2 and secure third place.

At the bottom, Sunderland Samba were at home to Jesmond Parish Church - neither yet to win season.

Ben Forthergil­l got Jesmond off the mark on 25 minutes.

Tom Hicks increased the lead after 30 minutes, but a chip from Alex Ironside on 44 minutes reduced Samba’s arrears.

In the second period, Lee Andrews nabbed a double to put Samba in front 3-2.

However, with almost the last play of the game, a corner awarded to Jesmond saw the ball drop off a Samba’s player’s shoulder and deflect into the net for an own goal - leaving both teams stil searching for that elsuive first victory.

In Division One, bottom cub Heaton Saints defeated Saint John’s Snods Edge 4-2.

Phil Russell (2), Stuart Patterson and David Wilde nothced for Heaton, Michael Baker and Jake Taylor for Saint John’s.

Morpeth Mighty Oaks overcame YAV SIFF 2-1 thanks to efforts from Lews Tanney and Josh Bell, Mohammed Wasim on the mark for YAV SIFF.
