Halloween party a big help for shelter

-

OUR Halloween party on Saturday was another fantastic event ticked off in the diary, what a brilliant day.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and joined in the fun, we are already excited for next year. We raised £74.88 on the day, which we very much appreciate.

Next up is our Christmas market on Thursday, November 29 at Benton North Farm which is a day not to be missed.

Our doors will be open from 4.00 until 9.00 on the day for you to come in and join in the festivities.

We will have lots of fantastic traders coming this year, selling lots of goodies which will make perfect Christmas presents or even just a little gift for yourself.

Firework season is now upon us so it is important to make sure your pets are kept safe, especially if they are nervous due to the loud noises.

Our advice would be to walk your dogs and let cats out earlier in the day (before the fireworks start) and get them back in when fireworks are being let off.

It is important to give your pets a safe place to go to keep them comfortable – for dogs, this could be a crate covered with a blanket and for cats and small animals you could use a carrier.

Don’t forget to give your animals lots of praise for their calm behaviour and the radio or TV can be a welcome distraction.

There are also some fantastic products which help to keep pets calm and feeling less stressed without medication. You can buy Pet Remedy spray and plug-ins from our reception at Benton North Farm, a natural way to help your pet in stressful situations.

We would like to extend a huge thank you again this week to everyone who continues to support us, your generosity does not go unnoticed and every donation helps us work towards our cause.

This week, we are continuing to appeal for kitten food as we are still receiving many phone calls each day about abandoned kittens in need of help. We are also in need of toys for our dogs, cats and rabbits to keep them entertained and to make their stay with us as enjoyable as possible.

We are also in need of Christmas lights to help us make our Benton shelter extra festive over the Christmas period. If you have any old lights or decorations which you would like to donate we would very much appreciate them.

Any raffle or tombola prizes would also be welcome to help us raise as much as possible for our animals at our upcoming events.

ANIMALS FOR HOMES

BABY, dog number 150, is approximately two years old and she arrived with us in July of this year.

She can be slightly nervous when she first meets new people, but she comes around very quickly and will be giving you cuddles and kisses in no time at all.

Baby is an absolute gem and a real pleasure to be around. She loves a fuss and she will tap you with her paw to get your attention.

Once Baby is comfortable there is no stopping her waggy tail and bottom. Baby can be vocal when you first meet her, which can make her seem a little intimidating so due to this, her nervousness and her size, we are looking for a home with adults only for this gorgeous girl.

She does need a home which understands her and where she is given reassurance, love and affection to show her everything is okay.

Dora, cat number 71, is approximately one year old and she arrived with us in June 2018. She can be a little shy initially, however she is happy to be approached.

She has come around to some of our staff members since she has been in our care, but she will need a quiet and patient home to allow her confidence to build and her personality to blossom.

A home with adults only or with older children (aged 15-plus) would be most suitable for Dora.
