Morse wants Mariners back on right road

-

SOUTH Shields defender Dillon Morse is determined to help his side put their poor away record behind them.

The Mariners travel to Whitby Town tomorrow looking for only their third away win of the campaign.

Despite that record, Graham Fenton and Lee Picton’s side is still on the very fringes of the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division play-off places.

Morse wants to get things “back on track” with a victory at the Turnbull Ground.

He said “Our home form is excellent, it has always been excellent.

“It is just that away form - we proved last season we can do that but this season things just have not gone for us.

“Things have gone against us but we are going to put that right, starting with Whitby.

“We will be back on track with our away record.

“The fans have been unbelievable all season and with all of the coaches going down there it is going to be a great day.

“Hopefully, we can give them the result they want.”

The Mariners are without suspended striker Carl Finnigan and long-term injury victims Barrie Smith and Anthony Callaghan.

Gavin Cogdon will also be absent as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury.

Evo-Stik NPL East leaders Morpeth Town travel to Frickley Athletic tomorrow knowing a win could move them nine points clear at the top of the table.

Highwaymen manager Nicky Gray is boosted by the return from suspension of striker Liam Henderson.

He is expecting a difficult game in West Yorkshire.

He said “Saturday is a tough, tough game.

“They have just changed manager and they will get a response for the new manager.

“Everyone wants to beat us because of where we are but it will be difficult to pick a side.

“They are one of the pre-season favourites and they will come good, so it is important to get a positive result.”

Marske United are also on the road as the make the long trip to Loughborough Dynamo.

Manager Carl Jarrett has injury doubts over defenders Lee Brockbank and Adam Wheatley and striker Damien Stevens.
