Butler’s service is top-class for West

SUNDERLAND West End produced a stunning performanc­e to bounce back from their recent poor form with a 9-0 win at Boldon CA.

Striker John Butler led the way for Anthony Nelson’s side as he claimed five goals with a clinical display of finishing.

Brian Norton scored twice and there was a counter apiece for Lee Smith and Andrew Brown as West End remained third in the table.

Fifth-placed Silksworth CW fell to a surprise home defeat against Darlington RA as two Chris Tarn strikes gave the visitors a 3-2 victory on Wearside.

Horden CW romped to a 6-0 success at Gateshead Leam Rangers thanks to Jamie Yorke (2) and one each from Sean Ryder, Robbie Renwick and Matty Pattinson.

An own goal rounded off a miserable day for their hosts.

Annfield Plain came out on top in the battle of two sides in the bottom three as efforts from Joe Johnson, Ki Gohery and Jamie Gordon gave them a 3-0 result at Coxhoe Athletic.

Lee Jones and Jamie Tumilty both notched twice in Hartlepool FC’s 6-0 demolition of Windscale.

Harton and Westoe CW moved into the third round of the TWR Shipowners Charity Cup with a 4-0 home triumph against Durham United.

Two finishes from Adam Bell and one each from Jason Pressling and Jordan Fenwick gave David Crumbie’s side a straightfo­rward win against the Durham and Wearside Developmen­t League club.

In-form striker Shaun Reay struck twice to put Hebburn Town Reserves on their way to a 4-1 verdict against over Washington Reserves in round one of the Monkwearmo­uth Charity Cup.

Mikey McGee hit a hat-trick as Wolviston moved into the third round of the Alan Hood Charity Cup 4-2 win at Richmond Town.
