Revenge so sweet for Jesmond as they go into Cup’s last eight

WEST Jesmond moved into the quarter-finals of the Neville Cowey Cup with a 4-3 success at Red House Farm.

In doing so they avenged their earlier defeat to the same opposition in the Tyneside Amateur Challenge Shield.

Dom Martin, Marc Cowley, Joe Cherry and Michael Beck were on target for West Jesmond.

Chris Mann bagged a brace for Red House Farm, who also had Darren Martin on the scoresheet.

In the league, Ponteland United Reserves maintained their lead at the top of the table with a 5-0 verdict at Wideopen A.

Steven Knox netted twice for Pont, their other counters from Sean McDonald, George Harris and Darren Parkes.

Morpeth moved into second spot with a 4-0 victory at Newcastle Medicals. Cole Brunton, Robbie Wilkinson, Will Pritchard and Jamie Crosbie their marksmen.

Wallsend Boys Club Developmen­t and Newcastle Chemfica Amateurs shared six goals and the points in a 3-3 draw.

■■THERE was a Wearside derby at Kieper School in Houghton- le-Spring in Division One of the North East Christian Fellowship League - Hope Church Sunderland overcoming YAV SIFF 7-3.

Adam Henshall opened the scoring in the sixth minute for Hope Church.

David Hawkins struck for 2-0, Andy Chapman then made it 3-0 - Hawkins and Chapman adding their second counters to set up a 5-0 advantage at half-time.

Kumareswar­adas Ramanathas pulled a goal back for YAV.

However, Henshall claimed his second for 6-1 amd two quick strikes from Nahid Akter and Mensah Koffi reduced the deficit to 6-3 before Jamie Gray sealed Hope Church’s victory.
