Beaconhill’s brilliant themes of the month
IN OUR SPECTACULAR SCHOOL we have a music teacher called Miss Andrews and she teaches us how to sign songs. Our school is called Beaconhill Primary School and we are the only school in Northumberland who does sign language for deaf people. We think this is very kind because not many people learn sign language.
Another thing Miss Andrews does with us is music and sometimes we play recorders and glockenspiels and keyboards which is really fun because we get to mess around and make music and sometimes we get to figure out what the notes are and when we have done that we get to play the song we have been given.
Also some songs that we have signed to are: Firework by Katie Perry, Roar by Katie Perry and lots more. We have signed to at least six songs in about two years. We all have really enjoyed it because it has been so much fun.
At assembly time we have two girls in year six who put all the songs up on the smartboard in hymn practice so that the whole school can sign to them and I am sure that both girls who do it enjoy their job. These girls are called Sophia and Summer.
Miss Andrews comes into our class to teach music and the other teachers take it in turns to teach hymn practice.
Everybody enjoys hymn practice on a Thursday because we get to sing and sign songs as a whole school together and because it is something we can all do together it is a lot of fun. IN THIS GREAT SCHOOL Beaconhill Primary, we have something called the Theme Of The Month. These are themes to work on, so at the present time it is Fascination.
Fascination is something that inspires you, for example, if you wondered what it would be like to be a teacher you would be inspired and fascinated to find out more. Identity, resilience and many more are included in our themes.
We change them every month so that we have plenty of time to work on them. The biggest reason why we have these themes is because they are life lessons to help you to always follow your dreams in life.
