Town hit spot of bother in Randolph Cup

ASHINGTON RAOB progressed to the third round of the SA Randolph Cup with a 2-0 victory over Blyth Town Sunday.

The Blyth side should have taken the lead with an early penalty but RAOB’s goalkeeper made a superb save.

It took two great goals from Josh Willis and Damien Stevens for the Buffs to win.

Newbiggin New Ship defeated Amble Tavern by the same score thanks to counters from new signing Bradley Higgins and Karl Davison.

In round three, Bubbles Ashington played host to East Chevington while Newsham Victory were at home to Bedlington Social Club.

The Vic came out on top against the Social Club 3-0 - on target for the Vic David Lillico, Liam McKee and Chris Coppen.

Chevington triumphed 7-2 against Bubbles, for whom Ben Wackett and Robert Watt netted.

Notching twice for the visitors were Luke Baston and Jack Small, their other goals from Calvin Baston, Jonathan Graham and Max Anderson.

Cramlingto­n Burton House claimed a 3-1 success over The Black Horse in Division One.

Andrew Deckers was on target for the Black Horse, Danny Maddox (2) and Joe Dobson for Burton House.

Blyth United Services edged past Ellington Plough 3-2.

Bryan Atkinson scored for the Plough, replies for Services from Dean Simmons and Paul Huck.

Ashington Town Central won 4-0 at home against Cambois Club.

Scoring for Central were David Kewn (2) and Stephen Frater (2).

The Sun Inn Bedlington lost 6-2 to Ashington Town Mortimer - Lee Messenger (2), Olly Dowling, David Brown, Liam Thompson and Daniel Hartshorn netting for Mortimer.
