- Wallsend RFC Under-12s on the pitch at Twickenham

BLUE Star moved up to top spot in the Premier Division with a 10-0 win over Highwayman.

Robbie Houghton, Evan Peareth and Alan Mulholland all scored twice, the remaining goals from Chris Laws, Lee Turnbull, James Bowman and Carl Johnson.

In Division One, Allerdene remain in pole position following their 3-1 victory against Leam Rangers.

Martin Summersatt opened the scoring for Allerdene before Louis Tiplady made it two before halftime.

Liam McDonald pulled one back for Rangers but Tiplady scored his second, and Allerdene’s third, to seal the points.

Nursery House are up to second following their 18-0 demolition of Inter XI.

Elliott Hancock top-scored with five goals while Robert Allen hit a hat-trick.

There were doubles for Dom Brown, George Foster and Marc Green.

Counters from David Boyle, David Reay, Daniel Birkbeck and Craig Young wrapped up the scoring.

Felling CC occupy fourth place following their 4-3 win at Gateshead Three Tuns.

Two Gary Lindsay efforts and one from Jak Charleswor­th were not enough for The Tuns as Matty Johnson bagged a brace alongside strikes from Anthony Kew and Darren Morton for Felling.

In the Bob Curry Cup, holders Belle Vue enjoyed a 9-3 success at Whickham Coachman.

Dylan Howourth bagged five goals, John Dewhurst chipping in with a treble and Josh Holland also NORTH Tyneside rugby starlets beat off nearly 2,000 rival squads to secure a dream trip to Twickenham, writes TONY HODGSON.

Wallsend Rugby Club’s under-12 team played on the hallowed turf of rugby’s spiritual home ahead of England’s autumn internatio­nal against New Zealand.

The 15-strong squad took on Scarboroug­h before forming a guard of honour for England and the All Blacks and then watching the match - which the Kiwis edged 16-15 - from the stands. on the scoresheet. The Coachies’ tally came courtesy of two own goals and one from Barry Latimer.

Thomas Wilson were 13-2 winners over Holmeside, Michael Cook grabbing four of the goals.

Wallsend were chosen for the honour - ahead of 1,900 other teams across Britain - after being nominated by regional England Rugby Developmen­t team Scott Powell and Dave Reed.

Wallsend RFC marketing and sponsorshi­p manager Chris Spence said: “It was an absolutely fabulous day for the boys - they are still buzzing about it now.

“They played on the pitch before the England game, did some interviews and then formed a guard of honour for the two teams before watching the whole game from the stands.

“It was a great experience for them and the national exposure the club received was far greater than we ever imagined.”
