MARS ATTACKS #2

FOR a series which started life as sci fi-themed trading cards, Mars Attacks continues to hold the imagination.

Those devious little Martians are currently enjoying a fresh comic adventure, choosing to attack just as Spencer was on his way to bum some money off his dad. Now the pair of them are on the run, trying to avoid being zapped by Little Green Men, hell bent on wiping Humankind from the face of the Earth.

Written by Kyle Starks, with art by Chris Schweizer, Mars Attacks #2 is out now priced £3.35.

GOODBYE STAN

COMIC legend Stan Lee has been laid to rest in a small, private funeral.

His family confirmed the 95-year-old was buried on Friday, with little fuss – exactly as Stan had requested. A statement issued through

Lee’s company POW! Entertainment said:

“Stan was always adamant that he did not want a large public funeral, and as such his family has conducted a private closed ceremony in accordance with his final wishes.” It also confirmed that a memorial of some sort is in the works, and that more details would be released to fans “in the days to come”.

AGENTS OF SHIELD RENEWED

WHILE some Marvel superheroes have been falling by the wayside, one constant are the Agents of SHIELD.

With Iron Fist and Luke Cage dropped by Netflix, it’s heartening to see Phil Coulson and the gang being picked up for a seventh season – even better news as season six hasn’t even aired yet.

The next two series consist of 13 episodes, nine less than the number commissioned for the last five seasons, but I’ll take that over nothing.

In other Marvel TV news, Tom Hiddleston has been revealed as the star of a Loki small-screen limited series for Disney’s new streaming service, with Scarlet Witch, Winter Soldier and Falcon also likely to get their own shows.
