Mac-nificent as Dan bags three goals

NORTH EAST CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP LEAGUE

-

JESMOND Parish Church recorded their second Premier Division victory in a week, beating Consett Saint Patrick’s 3-2.

The result meant Saints dropped to second-bottom.

Dan McGrane scored after 20 minutes for Jesmond, but within seven minutes Gary Charlton had equalised.

On the hour Peter Price put Consett in front at 2-1 - but this time the lead lasted only five minutes long as McGrane grabbed his second to tie the match at 2-2.

However, in the 78th minute McGrane completed his hat-trick to seal the victory.

North Shields Community Christians and Saint Charles RC Church Gosforth drew 1-1.

Andrew Howes put Saint Charles in front after 20 minutes.

Shields claimed their equaliser on 76 minutes through Steven Thomson.

Both teams had chances to collect all three points but the match ended all square.

In Division One, Stockton Salvation Army have been top of the division for the majority of the season - but second-placed Jubilee Church Teesside went level with them by defeating Saint John Snod’s Edge 2-1.

Chris Telfer fired Saint John’s in front and they looked good for the lead.

The next goal arrived on the 50th minute when Aaron Thompson equalised.

This game was looking like a draw - but in the 89th minute John Cooper prepared for a cross but the ball screwed off his boot and looped over the goalkeeper’s sprawling hands to seal the victory.

Salvation Army remain top of the pile, having a better goal difference.

Morpeth Mighty Oaks remain in third after drawing 2-2 with Hope Church Sunderland.

They fell behind after just two minutes when Andy Chapman notched for the Wearsiders.

A substitute by Morpeth at half-time paid dividends as Matty Wilcox equalised a minute after the resumption before Hope Church regained the advantage through Chapman.

Josh Tinsley levelled for the Oaks - but they remain behind Jubilee Church in the table.
