Reflects on the Magpies being thrown to the Wolves

least one point. We knew it was going to be a tough game and after DeAndre’s red card it was even harder for us.

“Even after that we played well, we created a few chances to score the goal and I don’t think we gave them so much space.

“They created two good chances and they scored one goal, so I think we probably need to play a little bit more cleverly in the last five minutes - because it was hard to play only 30 minutes with just 10 players.

“I was disappointed because as I said it was a great effort, the guys played well.

“We would like to win the games at home but we did not.”

Newcastle headed in to the clash on the back of a positive 1-1 draw at Everton and were arguably the better side against Wolves - even with 10 men. Dubravka feels the Magpies would have claimed all three points had it remained 11 v 11 on Sunday.

He added: “Sometimes you need a little bit of luck and I don’t think we had that luck.

“I think if we played with 11 players it would have been a different game but it is hard to complain about DeAndre because he tried to play as best as possible, so it is really hard to complain.”

Newcastle’s next two games are now crucial. They first travel to Huddersfield on Saturday before they welcome Fulham to St James’ Park a week later.

Both sides are in the relegation zone and if United are to pull away from danger they need to be beating sides around them.
