Senators tame the Tigers to close the gap on leaders Prudhoe

MATFEN Senators moved to within one point of Northumbri­a League Division One leaders Prudhoe.

Unbeaten performanc­es by Alex Holliday and Neil Forsyth in both singles and doubles saw them defeat Cramlingto­n Tigers 7-3.

Ouston C suffered a setback to their promotion hopes in Division Three as they were beaten by Saints.

Vince Killen was unbeaten and was well supported by John Cook and Ray Joynson in a 7-3 victory.

Cramlingto­n Spartans moved level with the Ouston side when Sree Kanakala, Sam Nair and Jamie Hall came away from Newton B with a 9-1 success.

Youngsters Alan Roskilly and Rohan Rawat were both in unbeaten for Division Four outfit Cramlingto­n Dynamos.

Ethan Brown of The Mount, Ferg Kilsby from Matfen and Brandon’s Patrick Nicholson won all four of their matches beating Darlington A, Scarboroug­h B and Ormesby first and second teams to end up in third place overall.
