Embleton keen to stay at Grimsby

-

ELLIOT Embleton is open to staying at Grimsby beyond his current loan deal.

The Sunderland youngster is enjoying a good spell at the League Two club and has played a major role in their upturn in form in recent weeks.

His loan deal is due to expire in the New Year but the two clubs are locked in talks about potentially extending the England under-20 international’s stay at Griffin Park.

Black Cats’ boss Jack Ross has previously suggested such an outcome would likely be beneficial to the midfielder’s long-term development.

It would appear 19-year-old Embleton is ready to stay on Humberside too.

The Sunderland loanee said: “I came here for game time and to show everyone what I can do.

“I got into the team and, since then, I’ve been chipping away by scoring goals and claiming assists.

“I’ve been playing well and I’m happy with my performances.

“I just want to do my bit to stay in the team.

“I still have to have a meeting with my manager at Sunderland and we will take it from there.

“I came here for game time and I’ve loved it. Now that I’m in the team, creating and scoring goals, I love it even more.

“If I do come back I would have no problems with that.”

Talented prospect Embleton has made 17 appearances for the Shrimpers so far this season, netting four goals and providing one assist.
