Let’s hope it’s not a happy Mitro return

- Aleksandar Mitrovic

ALEKSANDAR Mitrovic will be back at St James’ Park this weekend and it will be good to see him in action.

I didn’t think Mitrovic was given the chance to fit into this system Benitez did not want him.

The manager made it clear the striker was not in his plans and so he moved on.

I am pleased for Mitrovic because he knew he had to go and get some game time.

Let’s be clear, though, there is no point crying over spilt milk - at the end of the day some players don’t fit in with the manager’s plans, tactically or personality wise, and I think that was evident when the team was struggling and not scoring goals and we knew he still would not get into the team.

He has done well, hopefully he has learnt from his experience at Newcastle, and it puts him in good stead at Fulham - and he is playing Premier League football.

I heard fans moaning earlier this season, saying if we had Mitrovic we would have been better off.

Well, the manager made his decision and Mitrovic left, has done well and I wish him well - but I hope he does not enjoy this weekend!

I am looking forward to seeing the match-up between Jamaal Lascelles and Mitrovic and I think both players will be.

It will be a physical battle. That is what sport is all about - competing - and it will be a cracking clash as long they stay within the laws of game.

I don’t mind it being feisty but don’t want anyone sent off or any excuses for anyone being sent off.
