‘NO WINNERS’ WHEN IT COMES TO DRUGS WARN POLICE

DRUGS, phones, a sword and an imitation firearm were seized when police raided a Tyneside home.

Officers executed a warrant at the property, on Aln Crescent, in the Fawdon area of Newcastle, on Monday– after a string of complaints to police.

The raid was carried out after allegations of antisocial behaviour and suspicious activity.

Northumbria Police’s Newcastle North West Neighbourhood Policing Team executed a magistrates warrant at around 8am on Monday.

Officers seized cannabis, several mobile phones, cash, a sword and an imitation firearm.

Two men and one woman were interviewed by police in connection with alleged criminal activity and they remain under investigation.

Now Neighbourhood Sgt Graham Yare has thanked members of the public for reporting the suspicious behaviour to police.

He said: “The warrant carried out today is a prime example of the robust response we will take to proactively target those suspected of being involved in criminal behaviour.

“There is no doubt the harmful impact drugs have on our communities and when we receive intelligence about a particular property we will always look to take action.

“When it comes to drugs there are no winners, dealers themselves go down a dark path which places them under threat of great harm.

“The anti-social behaviour associated with it can also ruin the lives of neighbours while any users can be left with irreparable damage to their physical and mental health.

“This particular warrant would not have been possible without the support of the local community. You are the eyes and ears of the police on the ground and we would encourage you to continue reporting incidents to police.

“This is not the first warrant we have executed and it will not be the last. Anyone we suspect of being involved in criminality should expect a knock on their door.”
