Hopes for early January signing dwindle for Benitez following

-

RAFA Benitez does not believe Newcastle United will be ready to make an early signing in the January transfer window.

Just days after claiming it will be a miracle of his side pulled off a top 10 finish again this season, Benitez answered openly and honestly when asked about bringing in new faces.

In the direct aftermath of the 4-0 hammering at Anfield, Benitez was asked if the Magpies were close to an early breakthrough in the window, to which he simply replied: “No.”

Then when asked if that worried him, Benitez responded by saying: “Yes.”

With owner Mike Ashley out of the country on holiday at the moment, Benitez is dealing with managing director Lee Charnley when it comes to transfers.

Asked if Charnley has spoken to Ashley, he said: “Yes, I was talking with Lee Charnley and still I have the same feeling: that it will not be easy.”

Newcastle leaked three goals in the second half against the expensively assembled Reds at Anfield.

Benitez reflected: “It’s difficult to explain when you lose a game in the way that we lost.

“We did well, we started well - and in the first half, in the first minute, we had our chances.

“We didn’t take our chances. “We then made a mistake, we gave them hope and belief, and still we had so more moments in the first
