Traffic & travel update

BY CAR A185 Jarrow Road closed due to roadworks from Hobson Way to A194 Newcastle Road. A189 Killingworth Road in both directions closed due to major roadworks from West Farm Avenue to A191 Benton Park Road.

BY BUS Killingworth Road, Gosforth, is closed between South Gosforth Roundabout and West Farm Avenue until (approx) summer 2019 to widen the road. Routes 18, 18A, 38, 54, 218, X7, X8 & X63 are diverted via Four Lane Ends.

To ensure the safe running of the New Years Eve event in Newcastle, road closures between 4:30pm and 9pm will include: Barras Bridge, entire length, St Marys Place, entire length, Percy Street, between St Thomas Street and Barras Bridge, John Dobson Street, St Marys Place and North Street East and Sandyford Road, between St Marys Place and Civic Centre roundabout.

BY METRO Chichester platform 2 will be closed until about August next year, due to signalling constraints in place while building work on the new South Shields interchange takes place. During the closure, if you’d like to travel from Chichester towards Pelaw, board a train from platform 1, travel to South Shields and remain on the train. Anyone wishing to leave the train at Chichester after travelling from South Shields should stay on the train to Tyne Dock, change platforms and return to Chichester platform 1.

BY TRAIN Industrial action is taking place, affecting Northern services tomorrow, and every Saturday in January as members of the RMT Union continue to strike.
