Toon taking cash only for Darlow

NEWCASTLE United are likely to reject any loan bid from Leeds United for Karl Darlow.

The Magpies aren’t interested in farming out their secondchoice goalkeeper on loan and will only listen to cash offers for the £4million-rated stopper.

Darlow has been on the sidelines for the last month or so with an elbow injury but is returning to full fitness and could be in contention to play again in January.

United have held contract talks with the former Nottingham Forest stopper this year with his current deal set to expire in 2020.

But they are yet to reach an agreement and could sell the 28-year-old to ensure they get full value for money before his current arrangement runs down.

But Darlow isn’t the only goalkeeper attracting interest ahead of the transfer window reopening, with several EFL clubs keen on Freddie Woodman.

The England Under-21 international wanted to leave in August on loan but his exit was blocked due to a contract dispute.

Woodman said earlier in the season: “January is around the corner and I have to be prepared for it when it comes.

“I’ve always said I enjoy playing football so whatever level it is, I am going to enjoy it.

“I don’t have to play for the Under-23s – I choose to play. I just want to get the best out of a bad situation.”
