represent England Under-16s in the Junior Open at St Andrews.”
Belsham was the only 16-year-old British girl to take part and added: “I was extremely proud to be selected.
“The whole tournament was an amazing experience.
“We all stayed together in St Andrews and were treated just like the professional players.
“It was fantastic to meet so many players from around the world and the standard of golf played there was really good.
“I was very happy with how I played in finishing 11th girl and 37th overall.“
“I also competed in the English Girls’ Under-16 Open in Lyme Regis.
“This was my fourth week away from home so I was pretty tired - but I was delighted to finish in sixth place.
“Since then, I have played in two further England matches.
“First against Switzerland Under16s in which I won both of my matches 4-2.
“Then I played as part of a mixed under-16 girls’ and boys’ international side against Ireland Under16s in Limerick, winning 2.5 points from three as we won 15.5-8.5.”
Belsham also enjoyed success at local level.
She said: “With my GCSE in the this summer I did not play much May to June and with other commitments with national selection missed out on most of the county competitions this year.
“However, I did enter the Ladies’ County Championship and finished in second place.
“I know I have been really lucky to have travelled so much this season and have so many opportunities to represent England.
“My mum and dad have been amazing in helping me to get to all of the national competitions, training sessions and coaching. I have been up and down and across England and Scotland as well as northern and southern Ireland, Portugal and Norway.
“I have had an incredible amount of fun.”
Looking to the future, Belsham added: “In 2019 my aim is to win a national competition and to continue to achieve as many top-10 finishes as possible.
“Hopefully I can play more competitions in Europe as well.
“I would like to continue to represent England and hopefully win more under-18 caps.”
