Put your Hat on a triumph for Hannon

-

HATHAL can make the most of a dip in class and secure his first victory since September 2016 in the Betway Conditions Stakes at Wolverhampton.

The seven-year-old has not got his head in front since winning that Haydock Group Three when trained by Richard Hannon – but that is not to say he has been running badly.

He was in the care of William Haggas in 2017 and proved good enough to place at Group Two level on multiple occasions before moving on to Jamie Osborne’s yard, again racing with credit.

Hathal has shown up well in Listed company on his two latest outings, most recently being edged out in France, but his rating of 107 puts him well ahead here and he cannot be opposed despite his lengthy barren spell.

Alaskan Bay hit the mark at this track before Christmas and can post another decent turn in the Betway Sprint Handicap. Jamie Osborne

A three-quarter-length winner of a very moderate heat, Alaskan Bay looked the type to kick on again with a victory under her belt and a 4lb rise does not appear too harsht.

Navadir has found novice company too tough an ask. so switching sphere in the Ladbrokes Home Of The Odds Boost Handicap seems to make sense.

She ran into two decent fillies on her most recent start, proving the best of the rest some 12 lengths behind the winner. An opening mark of 66 Nicky Richards

gives Marco Botti a bit to play with, too.

Wind Storm is the pick in the Ladbrokes Fillies’ Handicap. The Karl Burke-trained fouryear-old has gone close on Tapeta at Newcastle and ran with credit at Southwell, her first taste of Fibresand.

She is back to Tapeta at Dunstall Park and will also appreciate the step back up in trip to seven furlongs. Throw into the mix the handicapper has kindly dropped her 5lb and she should be thereabouts. Henry’s Joy was a little lacklustre when last seen but can make amends in the Betway Chase at Musselburgh. He has been eased 1lb for his distant third on testing ground at Sedgefield but a return to better conditions at the Edinburgh venue should aid his cause.

Nicky Richards has his string in excellent form and can add to his tally with Ballycrystal Court in the Betway Heed Your Hunch Handicap Hurdle.

The seven-year-old was a dominant winner at Musselburgh in December 2017 when trained by Sandy Thomson and was only narrowly denied on his latest visit to the track last month.

Only 1lb higher, he should prove very hard to beat in his bid to go one better.

Sutter’s Mill came up against something of a course specialist at Ffos Las but should have no such problems in the interbet.com Sports Betting Novices’ Handicap Chase at Chepstow.
