Newcastle will find out fourth round oppostition today - that’s if they can get past tricky replay at Blackburn Rovers

- By SEAN MCCORMICK

IF Newcastle can negotiate their way past a tricky replay away at Blackburn, they will be potentially three games away from a Wembley semi-final date in the FA Cup.

The Magpies limped their way to a 1-1 draw with Championship side Blackburn on Saturday as Matt Ritchie’s late penalty kick cancelled out Bradley Dack’s opener at St James’ Park. It means both sides are still in the hat for today’s fourth round draw and they will be hoping for a favourable tie to continue their quest for FA Cup glory.

Newcastle were beaten by Chelsea at the fourth round stage last season and are yet to enjoy a decent run in the competition during the Mike Ashley era. United last won the competition in 1955 and have won the FA Cup on six occasions.

More recently, they enjoyed backto-back runs to the final in 1998 and 1999 and were semi-finalists in 2000 and 2005. Here is all you need to know about today’s fourth round draw.
