Leam beat off champions to head the table

LEAM Lane WMC went top of the Premier Division after making it eight wins from eight with a 4-2 victory over last season’s champions Belle Vue.

Vue opened the scoring but were pegged back thanks to a header from Connor Halpin.

Vue regained the lead but again Leam Lane hit back with another headed goal, this time from Joe Reed.

Joe Mole then got onto the end of a cross to give Lane the advantage going into half-time.

The game was sealed when Mole struck again.

Whickham Coachman are hot on Lane’s tails, also maintainin­g their 100% record with a 2-1 success over Thomas Wilson.

Goals from Alex White and Stephen Hall took the points, the Wilson’s replies from Ricky Fenwick.

Stormont Main and Sheriff Hill Three Tuns played out a 3-3 draw.

Stormont raced into a three-goal lead thanks to strikes from Liam Turnbull, Danny Young and an own goal but were stunned by counters from David Hawkins, Bri Allen and Liam Farr.

In Division One, A1 Allerdene remain top after their 5-1 result at Inter XI.

Kieran McPherson opened the scoring for Allerdene with a header before Conner McMillan doubled their lead. Joe Turnbull made it three before Inter pulled one back through Callum Dymond.

Joe Turnbull claimed his second with an excellent free-kick and a Ryan Miller header completed the scoring for the leaders.

Nursery House kept up their title challenge with a 3-2 triumph at Felling CC.

Two finishes from Anth Kew gave Felling a half-time advantage but a second-half fightback from Nursery House took the points thanks to strikes from David Reay, Paul Garthwaite and Elliott Hancock.

Whickham Bay Horse are fourth after their 4-2 victory at Gateshead Three Tuns.

Two efforts from Kevin Hay were added to by Reece Boyd and Marc Udale for Bay Horse.

Leam Rangers prevailed 4-3 against Saltwell SC and went three up before half-time thanks to finishes from Joe Hunter, Joe Hodgson and Nathan Bailey.

In the second half Saltwell hit back with two quick strikes but Michael Mains scored Rangers’ fourth. A late effort from Saltwell was in vain.

In the BA Heart Foundation Cup, two goals from Crawcrook Albion’s Alistair Wilson were not enough as his side crashed out 5-2 at Coxhoe Red Lion.
