Sporting are on their top form as they squeeze past Crammo

WHITLEY Sporting Club maintained tp spot with a hard-fought 2-1 win at third-placed Cramlingto­n United.

The result was made all the more sweeter with Rothbury being on cup duty, Sporting’s goals coming courtesy of Jake Betts and Lewis Walker, David Dormand replying.

Willington Quay Saints kept up the pressure on the leading pack when edging a nine-goal clash at home to lowly Seaton Sluice.

Joe Connor bagged a second-half brace for the victors while Brandon Williams, Lee Crammond and Ryan Ferrier also netted.

Sluice repied through Ben Meant, Kieran Moffatt, Nick Doyle and Sam Johnson.

Spittal Rovers triumphed 3-0 at to Jesmond, all the goals in the second half, while a first-period brace from Liam Gibson gave Blyth the points in a 2-0 success at Ellington.

Whitburn were held to a 2-2 draw at Cramlingto­n Town, counters from Lee Orr and Joe Warren cancelling out a brace from Town’s Liam McKee - his second coming from the spot.

In the bottom half of the table, Coundon and Leeholme prevailed 3-1 at Wideopen and Stobswood edged past visiting Gateshead Redheugh 2-1.

■■NEWCASTLE East End held Forest Hall to a 4-4 draw in Division One.

Callum Larmouth bagged a brace for East End and was joined on the scoresheet by Callum Ritson and Craig Scott. Hall replied through Paul Ridley, Jack Pinchen, Nicky Evans and Tom Brock.
