Leam bounce back to form against RA

-

GATESHEAD Leam Rangers put their poor run of form behind them as they came from behind to seal a 2-1 win at Darlington RA.

An early goal from Chris Tarn put the hosts in front - but the visitors roared back into the game and claimed the points thanks to goals from Carl Taylor and Shaun Bell.

Darlington Town overturned a half-time deficit to take all three points against Coxhoe Athletic.

A Dagan Taylor brace gave the hosts a 2-1 lead at the interval but second-half strikes from Brandon Roberts, Damon Miller and Myles Swift ensured it was the visitors who claimed the win.

Boldon CA continued their mini-revival as they triumphed 3-2 at home against Windscale.

Reece Blakey, John Murray and Jonathan Basham found the net for CA as they made it two wins out of two in 2019.

Hartlepool and Hebburn Town Reserves both progressed into the semi-finals of the Monkwearmouth Charity Cup - with penalty shoot-out success.

The Hornets looked set for their first defeat in any competition this season as strikes from Harton and Westoe CW duo Jordan Fenwick and Adam Bell put their side 2-1 up as the game headed into injury-time.

However, a last-gasp equaliser from Shaun Reay sent the tie to the lottery of penalties and Frankie Hucks hit the winning spot kick to give Kevin Bolam’s side a 3-1 result.

Hartlepool and Sunderland West End failed to break the deadlock at Grayfields - but it will be Terry Hill’s side who take their place in the last four of the competition after their 4-3 victory on penalties.

Leaders Wolviston were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw at home against West Auckland Tunns.

Famara Jatta put Wolviston ahead early in the second half at Metcalfe Park but the points were shared thanks to a penalty from Tunns’ Gary Proudfoot.

Wolviston hold a three-point lead over second-placed Hebburn Town Reserves - but the South Tyneside outfit has three games in hand.

■ ALNWICK Town Development Squad kept in touch at the top of the Sportsworld North Northumberland League as finishes from Cameron Thorpe and Harry Millham gave them victory over Lowick United.

In the Sanderson Cup, Lee Messenger and Stephen Lucas both netted twice as Newbiggin beat Ashington Town.

North Sunderland recorded four different goalscorers as they defeated Bedlington Seniors A but Wooler needed extra time to go through against Amble St Cuthbert.
