-

POLICE have confirmed that a body recovered from a pond in North Tyneside was that of missing man Paul Nash.

Emergency services were called to the Cobalt Business Park on Sunday morning after receiving a report of a body in the water.

Firefighters and police officers went to the scene and searched an area outside Newcastle Building Society’s offices on Cobalt Park Way.

The crews later recovered a man’s body.

Northumbria Police has now confirmed that the deceased was 32-year-old Paul Nash, of Wallsend, who had been reported missing in November.

Inquiries are taking place to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.

A police spokesperson added: “There is not believed to be any third party involvement and specialist officers are supporting his family at this difficult time.

“A report is now being prepared for the coroner.”

It is believed Mr Nash went missing just before his grandmother’s funeral, towards the end of November.

After hearing news of his death, a number of people left condolence messages on social media.

One man said on Facebook: “So sad RIP. Such short life. Thoughts are with family.”

Another read: “Rest in peace Paul. Very sad news.”
