Durham’s league derby double with Cleveland topping the Bill
DURHAM Under-16 Boys are in Northern Counties League action against Cleveland on Monday at Northfield School, Billingham (6.30).
On the same night, Durham Under- 18’s play Cleveland at neighbours Billingham Town (6.30).
Durham Under-16 Girls will also face Cleveland - but not until Monday February 25, at Northfield School, Billingham (6.30).
■■NORTHUMBERLAND Under-16 Girls’ match against Cleveland was postponed last week due to the wintry weather and will now staged on Saturday, March 9.
■■DESPITE bitterly cold weather, the Under-11 ESFA Danone Nations Interassociation Trophy tournament was able to go ahead.
Sunderland AFC allowed the teams to use their excellent indoor facility at the Academy of Light.
Darlington retained the trophy by winning all their matches with Chester-le-Street in second place due to their four wins. In four of the last five seasons Darlington have either been winners or runners-up in this competition.
They will represent DCSFA in the north regional round of this competition later in the season. ■■A CLOSELY-CONTESTED Tony Carter Memorial Five-a-Side Trophy ended with victory for Chester-leStreet by one point from Sunderland.
This is the eighth time Chester-leStreet have registered a victory in the tournament.
The competition for B teams was claimed by Darlington. ■■THE Newcastle Under-11 Duffy League resumes on Thursday at Walbottle Campus (4.00).
St John Vianney head the table but are not in action this week.
