Injured duo are fit - but Sean set to keep place at Molineux

-

RAFA Benitez has hinted Sean Longstaff may have done enough to retain his place at Molineux - despite the return of Mo Diame and Ki Sungyueng to the fray.

United are only missing Jonjo Shelvey and Rob Elliot as they head to the Black Country, which brings Benitez a measure of satisfaction over team selection and also headaches about who should start at Wolves.

The biggest selection dilemma is whether or not Miguel Almiron starts but Longstaff and Isaac Hayden have performed well in the absence of Benitez’s first-choice players Ki, Diame and Shelvey - who will spend another two weeks on the treatment table.

The Spaniard has praised the attitude of his squad – paying particular attention to 21-year-old Academy graduate Longstaff. He said: “They are all training well. I am happy with Sean, he has been doing well.

“That is a difficult decision for me this week. Not just this one, just to pick the team and the squad.”

Newcastle also welcome Yoshinori Muto back into the fray after his exertions with Japan in the Asian Cup.

Benitez added: “He has been training. Been back three days. He is always running and smiling, he is fine.”

United will sign off from Premier League action for more than a week on Monday, heading to Spain for a warmweather training camp.

Benitez explained: “It is an opportunity to get to know each other and fix the things we need to fix in terms of tactics. It was positive last time and hopefully it will be again.”
