Pair accused over pub death appear in court

TWO people have appeared in court following the death of 46-year-old Anthony Richardson outside a Newcastle pub on Thursday, February 7.

Mr Richardson, from Newcastle, was found injured outside The Chesterfie­ld pub on Elswick Road at about 6.20pm.

He was taken to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary but died of his injuries on Friday.

Thomas Brand, 44, of no fixed abode, appeared at South East Northumber­land Magistrate­s’ Court yesterday charged with manslaught­er.

He did not enter a plea and is due to appear at Newcastle Crown Court on March 11.

Nathan Aldus, 28, of St Christophe­r’s House, Westmorlan­d Road, also appeared in court charged with causing grievous bodily harm. He pleaded not guilty to the offence and will also be tried at Newcastle Crown Court on March 11.

Both were remanded in custody.
