MP pays tribute as father Bernard passes away

COUNTY Durham MP Laura Pidcock has announced that her father has died.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn joined in the tributes to Bernard Pidcock who was a serving councillor with Northumberland County Council.

Coun Pidcock, who represented the Holywell ward, passed away on Sunday morning. His daughter announced his death on Twitter saying he was her “best friend”.

North West Durham MP Laura posted a photo of herself with her parents and said: “My beautiful dad died this morning. He was much more than a dad, he was my best friend and comrade.

“He was a servant to others & the pursuit of socialism. This picture shows one of his happiest moments. I am heartbroken.”

Jeremy Corbyn replied saying: “Beautiful picture of a wonderful family. So sad at his passing and was a privilege to have known him and been supported by him.”
