Sting and Shaggy on tour

STING is set to return to Newcastle for a gig alongside Jamaican reggae singer Shaggy.

Tyneside born-and-raised Sting teamed up with the “It wasn’t me” artist to record their album 44/876, which scored the duo a top-10 hit and won a Grammy for Best Reggae Album.

Sting & Shaggy are heading out on tour in the UK, where they will play a series of intimate venues.

The Police frontman and the “Mr Boombastic” singer will perform at Newcastle’s O2 Academy on Wednesday, May 22.

In the show, the pair will perform tracks from their Grammy-winning album and collaborat­e on each other’s biggest hits. They include Sting/Police’s “Every Breath You Take”, “Englishman In New York”, “Message In A Bottle”, and Shaggy’s hits, such as “Mr Boombastic” and “Angel”.

Last year, Sting and Shaggy toured North America, South America and Eastern Europe, before playing the Queen’s 92 birthday celebratio­n at the Royal Albert Hall.

Sting and Shaggy will also play London’s Roundhouse on May 19, O2 Academy Birmingham on May 24 and O2 Apollo Manchester on May 25.
