Sharks lack teeth as Arrows hit the target

-

WHITLEY Arrows returned from Hull Ice Arena with both points after defeating Kingston Sharks 6-3 in an English Under-11 North League match.

There was not much to separate the two sides at the end of the opening period - the Arrows ending it one goal to the good courtesy of Max Torre at 10.12.

The home side were level just nine seconds from the start of the second period through Beau Reader.

The Arrows regained their advantage at 22.01, Torre sending Jack McVeigh away for his first goal of the season.

The home side did not take long to level for a second time and it was while they were short-handed they scored thanks to Edgars Vengis.

Kingston were back to full strength when Whitley retook the lead which came from Dunn’s strike - Louis Rothwell adding an assist at 25.41.

It was Dunn’s sixth goal of the season and Rothwell’s second point of the campaign.

Just 70 seconds had elapsed in the second period when the visitors increased their advantage - Evie-Mae Tindale with her second goal of the season and Jake Todd with the assist.

Kingston came out of the blocks in the final period looking to erase Arrows’ two-goal cushion - but netminder Orson Groot denied them.

The home side did cut the deficit to one at 36.53 when Meeyah Forbes netted.

However, Whitley’s two-goal cushion was restored three minutes later through Nathan Hartle.

The visitors wrapped up a deserved victory with Torre’s second strike of the game and fifth of the season.

The result keeps the Arrows in fourth, two points adrift of Kingston.
