NO foul on goalie, claims ex-referee

EX-PREMIER League referee Mark Halsey says that Wolves’ late equaliser against Newcastle United was right to stand, judging there to be no foul on goalkeeper Martin Dubravka from Willy Boly.

Newcastle supporters were angered as Dubravka jumped to collect a late cross from the hosts who were desperately looking for an equaliser after Isaac Hayden’s earlier strike.

But as Dubravka jumped so too alongside him did Wolves’ Boly and in doing so his arm caught Dubravka in the face, unsighting him and causing him to miss the ball, allowing for the hosts to bag a dramatic late equaliser in the Premier League clash.

It wasn’t only the foul on Durbravka that annoyed Magpies fans though.

The goal also came after the four-minute mark of time added on, which many fans complained about.

But in giving his view on the Boly incident, Halsey also explained where the extra time came from.

Writing in the Sun, he said: “I felt Graham Scott made the correct call awarding Willy Boly’s injurytime goal.

“Newcastle keeper Martin Dubravka never had the ball under his control and Wolves centreback Boly had every right to go for it.

“It wasn’t a foul for me. “The time added on was also questioned but I felt it was fair.

“Ref Scott asked for a minimum of four minutes added and Boly scored on 94 minutes and 34 seconds.

“But Newcastle made a sub at the start of added time when Ayoze Perez came off for Javier Manquillo and that took a whole minute to complete.”
