Club put on a Top display in Trophy

CONSETT Top Club progressed in the Harkness Trophy with an impressive 7-0 victory over Consett The Barn.

Dale Gibson (2), Richard Parkin, Dan Parker, Andy McIntosh, Josh Scott and Michael Hannant were Top Club’s marksmen.

Blackhall Mill and Chopwell also notched seven times against Stanley RAFA in the Consett Charity Cup.

Keith Main (2), Scott Johnson (2), Derek Waters, David Wansell and Niki Shepherd scored for the Mill, Dan Gregg with RAFA’s consolation.

Lanchester CC edged past Consett Station WMC 4-3 – Steven Smithson (2), Tom Rothwell and Jack Barron for the Cricketers, Andy Turnbull (2) and Mark Coates for Station.

There was another tight cup clash at Oxhill Central, where the home team was squeezed out 5-4 by Consett Scotch Arms.

Dan Walker (2), Joe Johnson, Scott Thompson and an own goal made up Arms’ total, Joe Gill (2), Iaian Curson and Scott Johnson scored for Oxhill.

In the Iveson Bowl, East Stanley WMC trounced Winlaton Vulcan 11-0. Kai Hewitson hit five goals, added to by Alan Coxon (2), Jake Stafford, Coiln Snailham, Michael Docherty and Aaron Richardson.

In the same competition, Stanley Imperial edged past Shotley Cricketers 2-1 thanks to strikes from Chris Phillips and Michael Askew, Greg Patterson scoring for Cricketers.

West Kyo Earl Grey were 4-2 victors against Castleside Horse and Groom – Jake Hall, Dan Punton, Jamie Turnbull and Jack Watson netting for Earl Grey, Michael Brown (2) for Horse.
