A Sporting chance of title for Bay

WHITLEY Bay Sporting Club remain at the top of the Premiershi­p after an impressive win over bottom-of-the-table Cramlingto­n Town.

Newcastle City Milan kept the gap at just one point, however, just edging a seven-goal clash against Heaton Hawks 4-3.

Swalwall Juniors are 14 points clear at the top of Division One thanks to a 5-0 victory over Wallsend Boys Club.

Walker Central are up to third courtesy of a 5-0 success over Kingston Park and are still in with a shot of the league title.

They now sit 15 points behind Swalwell but with five games in hand.

A top-of-the-table clash in Division Two saw Newcastle Blue Star defeat Alnwick Town 4-0 to take over as leaders on goal difference.

At the other end of the table, Swalwell Juniors overcame Haydon Bridge 6-3.

There were two 2-2 draws in Division Three as Morpeth Town against Wideopen and Whitley Bay versus Walbottle Juniors ended in stalemates.

There is a three-way battle for honours in Division Four, the top sides separated by a point.

With Blyth Rangers Valencia in cup action, Ellington Juniors and Blyth Rangers Deportivo closed the gap at the top.

Ellington defeated Wideopen while Deportivo took a close encounter against Cramlingto­n United Panthers 2-1.

West Moor Juniors and Alnwick Town played out a 4-4 draw and Cramlingto­n United Jaguars triumphed 4-1 at Seaton Delaval.

■■AN extra-time winner secured Cramlingto­n Juniors a place in the Under-15 Cup final after a 1-0 result against Morpeth Town.

■■IN a Whitley Bay Sporting Club derby in the League Shield quarter-finals, the Whites lost out to the Yellows.

They take on Swalwell in the next round and the winners of that will face Ashington Colliers in the final after they beat Newcastle West End 4-1.

■■NORTH Shields and Gateshead Redheugh will contest the Trophy decider after victories in their respective semi-finals.

Shields prevailed 3-2 against Dudley and Weetslade, while Redheugh accounted for Blyth Rangers Valencia.
